CAIRO: Unidentified gunmen attacked a police vehicle and were freed a suspect accused of drug trafficking in Egypt’s Delta governorate of Sharqia, Youm7 reported Tuesday.

The attack occurred in Belbis-Cairo Road while Fatma Sulaiman was being transported from Ain Shams police station where she was detained to the court, source at the Sharqia Security Directorate told Youm7.

Sulaiman had been sentenced to four days detention pending investigation over a drug trade case, the source said.

The source added that the low-ranking police officer who was in the vehicle might has been “implicated in the incident.”
