CAIRO: The Central Administration for combating Customs smuggling foiled an attempt to smuggle used and prohibited imported medical devices at East Port Said port, Youm7 reported Wednesday.

The seized devices were placed inside five containers coming from China.

The administration was reportedly notified through intelligence sources about a smuggling attempt by an import and export company.

Among the seizures were four Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) devices, two devices for X-CT scans, another one for anesthesia and a number of devices for brain and nerves, as well as cardiac catheterization.

A police report has been filed about the incident, which was referred to prosecution for investigations.
