CAIRO: The 25th round of the Higher Council for Islamic Affairs’ (HCIA) conference will kick off in Luxor, Egypt Saturday, Youm7 reported.

Under the slogan “Renewing the Religious Discourse,” the conference will tackle the role of the local and international organizations and the delegations bodies in influencing religious speech, concepts and mechanisms of rejuvenating the religious discourse and visions of imams to refute extremist ideologies.

Prime Minister Sherif Ismail, the Grand Imam of Al Azhar Sheikh Ahmed Al Tayeb, Minister of Awqaf Mokhtar Gomaa, Pope Tawadros II and dozens of Awqaf ministers and Muftis around the Islamic World will participate in that two-day conference.

Sisi has repeatedly called for an overhaul of Islamic thinking decrying the extremism which “tears apart the Islamic nation.”

“The terrorist attacks led us to think that we must change the religious discourse and remove from it things that have led to violence and extremism,” Sisi said during a speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
