“Miss Belgium 2016” kicks off in Hurghada

CAIRO: A total of 30 shortlisted candidates running for the “Miss Belgium 2016” title have arrived in the Red Sea resort city of Hurghada, which hosts the contest in a bid to boost Egypt’s tourism.

A camp has been set for the pageant in Sahl Hashish Complex, where training programs kicked off Friday and is expected to last until Nov.19.

A large number of representatives of Belgium newspapers will be attending the events of the contest.

A press conference, featuring the screening of a promotional film about Egypt’s tourist destinations, will be held in presence of Chairman of the Tourism Promotion Authority Mahmoud Sami.

“Hosting such events indicates in the first place that Egypt is completely safe, and ensures that the whole world knows very well that Egypt is secure,” Youm7 quoted Ahmed Mostafa, the director of the Tourism Promotion Department in the Red Sea governorate.

The closing ceremony of the pageant will be held in the Belgium capital city of Brussels, during which pictures and details of the events carried out in Hurghada will be displayed.
