CAIRO: Cairo Governor Galal Saeed will preside over a meeting with the governorate’s executive board Sunday to discuss preparations for the second phase of parliamentary elections scheduled to kick off Nov. 21, Youm7 reported.
The governor, his four vice-governors as well as heads of Cairo districts are scheduled to discuss measures necessary for the parliamentary polls and ways to address violations committed by parliament elections candidates since the campaign period for the second phase of elections kicked-off Nov. 3.
The second phase will be held in 13 governorates including Cairo, Dakahlia, Menoufia, Port Said and Sharqia with 27.5 million eligible voters.
The parliamentary elections are the third step in Egypt’s roadmap following the ratification of the constitution and presidential elections.
A total of 222 independent parliamentary seats will be available in the second phase, with 2,847 candidates competing in 102 constituencies, the High Election Committee (HEC) announced earlier this month.
