CAIRO: A total of 77 international and domestic flights are scheduled to land at Hurghada airport Sunday, official source at the airport told Youm7 Sunday.
As many as 3,500 tourists will arrive Hurghada airport on board of 23 flights from Germany, 1,050 tourists on board of seven flights from Austria, 900 on board of six flights from Switzerland as well as 300 tourists on board of three flights coming from Turkey, according to the source.
The airport also will receive 16 Russian planes with no passengers on board as they will carry the Russian tourists stranded in Egypt since the plane crash occurred late October over Sinai, he added.
The airport will also receive ten domestic flights carrying 722 Egyptians and tourists who were sightseeing touristic attractions in Cairo and Luxor.
Following the Russian plane crash that killed 224 passengers and crew, swift decisions were taken by a number of countries including Germany, Russia, France and the UK to evacuate their tourists from the resort town, after reports that a bomb may have been the cause.
”The figures of holidaymakers arrival to Egypt does not mean the tourism industry is not badly affected by the plane crash. It simply means most of those who are still arriving to Hurghada and Sharl al-Sheikh may have not been able to cancel their confirmed bookings,” a tourism manager in a Sharm al-Sheikh travel agency told The Cairo Post last week.
