CAIRO: A false bomb threat has delayed a flight heading from Cairo International Airport to the Red Sea resort of Hurghada Tuesday evening, Youm7 reported.
EgyptAir flight MS042, scheduled to take off Tuesday at 10:40 p.m., was delayed after a passenger from the Czech Republic has claimed another passenger sitting next to her has received a phone message saying there were explosives on board, Youm7 reported, citing an EgyptAir statement.
“The flight crew was alerted of a possible bomb threat during boarding and as per standard operating procedures, alerted the control tower and the authorities, before taxiing the aircraft to a remote area to disembark the passengers safely,” Egypt’s national carrier said in a statement.
Cairo International Airport was put on alert after receiving the alert, Youm7 reported.
“The Bomb disposal unit has conducted a thorough search of the aircraft and luggage of the passengers and gave clearance that the aircraft was safe,” according to the statement.
