CAIRO: The embassy of the Netherlands in Cairo will organize two events Thursday and Friday to bring attention to bikes as a means of transportation, Youm7 reported.
On Thursday, the embassy will hold a seminar at Cairo University with transportation experts from Holland and Egypt, who will discuss using bikes to run errands in Egypt and present initiatives in the same realm.
The seminar will discuss bikes as a low-cost and environment-friendly means to reduce pollution and traffic.
On Friday at 8 a.m., the embassy will hold the Orange Bike Day event in Zamalek in cooperation with the Global Biking Initiative – Egypt.
The embassy launched the Orange Bike Day event in 2012, in which about 400 people participated, while 3,000 people participated last year, Youm7 quoted Dutch Ambassador Gerard Steeghs.
