CAIRO: The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry advised its citizens Thursday to avoid all travel to North and Central Sinai, as well as desert areas to the west of Cairo, encouraging travelers to remain “vigilant” in popular resort towns including the Red Sea, Hurghada, Soma Bay, and Sharm-el-Sheikh, state-owned Interfax agency reported.
“During their stay in Egypt, Ukrainians are strongly advised to be especially attentive and careful and not leave guarded resorts without sufficient reason,” the ministry stated.
Russian Metrojet 9268 crashed on Oct. 31, killing all 224 persons onboard, including four Ukrainians.
The Kremlin announced Wednesday that a bomb was likely stored in the cabin of the plane.
An international investigation team stated that the debris of the crash was consistent with an “in-flight break-up,” but a final report has yet to be released.
