CAIRO:  No criminal charges will be filed in the death of three persons killed by electric shock when a tram power cable fell in standing water following torrential rains in Alexandria, Alexandria District Center Head Soad Helmy told Youm7.

Helmy said that an investigation has been ordered, but the cause of the overflow of water has been the swelling population of the city on a overburdened sewer network.

The electrocution victims were reportedly sheltering from rain near the tram in Moharam Beek St. A horse was also reportedly killed in the accident.

The governor of Alexandria reigned from his post following rains that crippled the city, with many streets completely submerged, and a number of buildings collapsing.

President Sisi convened an emergency Cabinet meeting Nov. 7 regarding the crisis, and then traveled to the affected governorate to order an upgrade of the sewer systems by the army within 10 days.
