CAIRO: The historic building of the Cairo Opera House is currently shining in new colorful lights and shades as part of a new lighting system project revealed by Philips Egypt Company.
The new lighting system incorporates the latest RGB LED technology and adopted energy consumption reduction by 80 percent, compared to traditional lighting systems, Philips stated.
The exterior view of the cultural edifice with its picturesque lighting is visible from any direction at a distance of half a kilometer away from the Nile River.
The Opera House stands on an Island in the southern portion of Gezira Island in the Nile River. It encompasses the main arts venue in the capital, including music concerts, dance performances, as well as hosting museums and galleries.
It was reopened in 1988 after it burned down in 1971.
