Sisi inaugurates East Port Said Development project

CAIRO: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi gave the go ahead Saturday to the East Port Said Developing Project, Youm7 reported.

The project includes building a giant maritime port, Industrial zone, a logistic area, a housing unit, and fishery farm, according to the official website of New Urban Communities Authority. The project aims to dig tunnels in southern Port Said to connect east and west of governorate that locates on the northern entrance of Suez Canal.

The project also includes a shipping lane aims to facilitate the world trade ships passing through the Suez Canal. The lane will be completed by the end of June 2016.

The new shipping lane will be 18.5 meters deep and 250 meters wide; the establishment cost is estimated at $60 million.
