CAIRO: Four dual-citizen Egyptians have been stripped of their Egyptian nationality for joining foreign armed forces and being naturalized without a permit per a Prime Minister Sherif Ismail decree, according to the Sunday issue of the Official Gazette.

Mohamed Fayez Fogo, Ragab Ismail Bazazo and Waluid Salman al-Telbany were stripped of their Egyptian citizenship for being recruited by the military and security establishments of foreign states without a prior license from Egypt’s Defense Ministry.

The Gazette did not note their other citizenships.

Meanwhile, Emad Samy Hasanein Ghoneim was stripped of the Egyptian citizenship for becoming an Israeli citizen without a permit of the Interior Ministry.

According to Article 10 of the Egyptian Nationality Law, no Egyptian citizen may acquire another citizenship without permission from the Minister of Interior; if he were to take a foreign nationality without the permit, the Cabinet may revoke his Egyptian citizenship.

The Egyptian nationality may also be stripped from a person convicted of treason, or one who joins a foreign military without permission from the Egyptian Ministry of Defense.
