2 petro officials accused of smuggling 2M EGP of diesel

CAIRO: Two officials at the CO-OP co. for petroleum, affiliated to the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum, have been accused of smuggling 2 million EGP with of diesel to an owner of petrol station in Upper Egypt’s Beni Sueif, General Directorate for the Investigation of Supply stated Monday.

The officials were sentenced to 15 days pending investigations; the Prosecution of Public Funds ordered the official to pay the Ministry the value of smuggled money, Youm7 reported.

Former Minister of Agriculture Salah Hilal and other three defendants have been brought to justice over charges of requesting and taking bribes for facilitating the sale of 2,500 acres in Wadi al-Natrun city in Delta’s Beheira Governorate. Their trial was scheduled to be held on Dec. 12.
