CAIRO: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi invited President of the French Senate Gérard Larcher to visit Egypt to “enhance parliamentarian cooperation,” according to a Tuesday presidential statement.

During his visit to France to participate in the United Nations COP21 climate change summit, Sisi met with Larcher and a number of senate members Monday, according to Egypt’s statement.

“There was convergence of views on adopting a comprehensive approach to eradicate terrorist groups and refute their ideology,” the statement said about the meeting.

“This requires deploying all means of modern technology to confront the ideology of terrorist group that aim at recruiting foreign fighters and propagating extremist thoughts,” the statement added.
