CAIRO: Former spokesperson of the Forensic Medicine Authority Hesham Abdel Hamid will probably be appointed as the head of the institution, a judicial source told Youm7 Thursday.
Outgoing chief of the authority Mahmoud Ali has reached the legal age of retirement, and Abdel Hamid, incumbent head of the dissection department, is the most plausible successor, the source said.
The Forensic Medicine Authority fall within the jurisdiction of the Justice Ministry, which has not named a new chief thus far.
The position of a spokesperson for the authority was removed after Abdel Hameed was investigated in March for making controversial statements regarding several high-profile cases, including the fatal shooting of activist Shaimaa al-Sabbagh.
Ali, then head of the authority, submitted a complaint against Abdel Hameed, accusing him of divulging technical secrets of lawsuits and being interviewed on TV “without his permission.”
