CAIRO: Sharm el-Sheikh security has been intensified in the lead-up to Christmas celebrations in the Red Sear resort town, a security source told Youm7.
The town is implementing a security plan that includes CCTV cameras and metal detectors in key areas ahead of the holidays, the source continued.
Sharm el-Shiekh has suffered from dwindling numbers of tourists following an Oct. 31 crash of a plane that departed from Sharm en route to Russia, killing all 224 passengers and crew on board. The Islamic State group claimed responsibility for the attack, and Russia has said that a bomb had been placed inside the plane’s cabin. An international investigation team has yetto release a final report into the definitive cause of the downing of the place.
