Egypt, Greek naval, air forces to perform military exercises

CAIRO: Egypt and Greece will perform joint military exercises for the first time in light of Egyptian President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi’s two-day visit to Athens, Youm7 reported Monday.

Units from Egyptian naval and air forces headed Monday to Greece where they will before joint military exercises with Greek troops, military official said in condition of anonymity as he is not authorized to brief the media.

The Exercises includes training on aerial and naval combat, maritime intercepts and supply and refueling; the troops of both nations will train on combating smuggling, maritime piracy, and illegal immigration.

President Sisi will head for Athena Tuesday as he and his Cyprian counterpart Nicos Anastasiades and Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras are scheduled to hold a tripartite summit Wednesday.
