CAIRO: A roadside bomb exploded in Arish Wednesday a day after four police military personnel were killed and four other were injured in a roadside bomb in Rafah of Arish in restive North Sinai, Youm7 reported.

Wednesday explosion took place in July 23 St.. in central city of Arish, eye witnesses said; no injuries were reported. A security cordon was thrown around the site of the explosion and security forces combed the area.

A police corporal, and two military conscripts were killed Tuesday when a roadside bomb exploded in their convoy in Rafah in Arish. Four other military conscripts were injured in the explosion.

The northern tip of the peninsula has been witnessing an Islamist militant insurgence, killing hundreds of army and the police in several attacks, especially since the 2013 ouster of the President Mohamed Morsi.

The Egyptian army has launched several campaigns against militants, killing hundreds of them, as well as arresting many suspects and destroying tunnels used in smuggling in persons, weapons and equipment with Gaza strip.
