CAIRO: Cairo International Airport received Thursday two shipments of radioactive isotopes weighing 1150 kg from Turkey and Netherlands under tight security, Youm7 reported.
The first consignment, at 500 kg, arrived in 17 parcels on board a Dutch airliner coming from Amsterdam.
The second one, in 29 parcels weighing 650 kg, arrived on board a Turkish airliner coming from Istanbul.
The shipment was examined by a delegate from the International Atomic Energy Agency to make sure they met radiation limits.
The airport has previously received similar shipments for the same medical purposes.
In Nov. 27, a shipment of radioactive arrived in 40 parcels weighing 520 kilograms.
In Oct. 23, a 476 kg-shipment arrived in 44 parcels from Turkey under tight security.
In January, the airport received 11 parcels including radioactive isotopes weighing 120 kg coming from the Netherlands, and another shipment weighing 49 kg from Iran.
