CAIRO: Justice Minister Ahmed al Zend came back to Cairo Friday after participating in the 4th Arab Forum on the Recovery of Embezzled Assets, held in Tunisia, Youm7 reported.
During the two-day meetings, Zend has called on establishing coordination among the countries victim of embezzlement, including Tunisia, Egypt, Libya and Iraq, to create a regional commission that adopts unified mechanism to restore the embezzled funds.
“Egypt is determined to recover the country’s stolen assets. It is important to establish a legal and political system based on accountability to prevent return to corruption in Arab countries,” said Zend.
Justice ministers from Lebanon, Jordan, Morocco and Tunisia, along with attorney generals of Qatar, Switzerland and Russia have participated in the meetings that took place Dec. 8-10.
Zend also called for developing practical means to take immediate decisions about the issues related to stolen funds and the legal standards.
