CAIRO: The Cassation Court rejected Saturday the 2nd appeal submitted by Egypt’s ousted President Hosni Mubarak and his two sons to abolish a three-year sentence handed to them on embezzlement charges in the case known as “the presidential palaces,” Youm7 reported.

The court also set Feb. 9 for the final verdict to be passed.

On May 9, Mubarak and his two sons, Alaa and Gamal, were sentenced to three years in prison for “seizing public funds worth 125 million EGP ($16.38 million,) which had been allocated to the upkeep of the presidential residences between 2002 and 2011.”

They were also fined $16m.
