CAIRO: The first hearing in the trial of former Agriculture Minister Salah Hilal on charges of accepting bribes was adjourned to Jan.9, Youm7 reported Saturday.

Hilal along with three other officials from the ministry, accused in the case known in the media as “Bribe of Agricultural Ministry,” will remain in detention until the next hearing.

Hilal was arrested in early September hours after submitting his resignation to President Abdel Fatah al Sisi.

The Minister and other three defendants, including the alleged briber, face charges of requesting and taking bribes for facilitating the sale of 2,500 acres in Wadi al-Natroun city in Delta’s Beheira governorate, according to a statement from the National Security Prosecution.
