65 people arrested at Cairo Airport for fleeing court ruling, smuggling cash
Cairo International Airport - YOUM7

CAIRO: A total of 60 people were arrested in the past 24 hours at the arrival and travel halls of Cairo Airport for being wanted to serve judicial rulings, Youm7 reported Sunday.

Five other passengers were arrested for attempting to smuggle cash more than $10,000 or an equivalent sum in other currencies, which is the maximum allowed to be carried, a security source at the airport told Youm7.

The arrests come in the framework of an intensive security campaign launched inside the airport; at the entrances, exits, travel and arrival halls and the garage.

It was not clear whether the 43 people were passengers and caught while checking in or out at the airport.

Customs officials at Cairo airport have recently stopped several attempts to smuggle drugs, money and artifacts.
