Arab female media figures union launches in Cairo

CAIRO: Under the patronage of the Arab League (AL,) Cairo hosted the inauguration of the Arab female media figures union Sunday, Youm7 reported.

Media figures from over 16 Arab states along with Egyptian Minister of Culture Helmy al-Namnmam were present during the event which took place at the AL headquarters in downtown Cairo.

“The union is long overdue as several Arab female media figures and journalists have been a great contribution to the Aram media since the nineteenth century,” said Namnmam.

Head of the Arab Media Union Asma Habashy said that the union will enhance cooperation among the Arab states and that “It will be channel to exchange information in Journalism and broadcasting fields,” according to Youm7.

During the ceremony, several prominent media and diplomatic figures were honored including AL Secretary General Nabil al Araby, Tunisian singer Latifa and Chairman of Kuwait’s Al Nahar newspaper Emad Boukhamseen.
