Sharm al Sheikh port reopens after weather improves

CAIRO: The Sharm al Sheikh Port reopened to navigation traffic Monday morning, a day after it was closed due to lack of visibility, cYoum7 reported.

According to Egypt’s Transportation Ministry released Monday, “The port was opened at 07:00 a.m. Cairo local time after weather improved and decrease of tough wind and waves.”

The port was closed Sunday morning as a precautionary measure after wind speeds reached 30 knots, according to the statement.

A bad weather wave accompanied by heavy rainfall swept through Cairo, Sinai and the North Coast Sunday causing power cuts and low visibility on the roads, the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA.)
