CAIRO: In the framework of the European Union (EU) cultural cooperation in Egypt, 100 Copies and Ricerca e Cooperazione (RC) have selected top artists within the Retune’s Music Academy program.

The selection process was conducted after intensive training for musicians and independent music operators.

The Academy is co-funded by the EU. It aims to support aspiring artists and to promote the diversity of artistic expressions in the Egyptian music industry. The EU has allocated an estimate of 300,000 Euros for this project, 80% of the project’s total cost.

Eleven talented artists were selected from 80 applicants, including musicians and performing bands. The first concert will take place on 20 December at the Greek Campus of the American University in Cairo in downtown Cairo.

Two other concerts are scheduled to be held in the Al–Menia and Asyut governorates on 22 and 23 December respectively. Artists had the opportunity to record at least one track. Their compiled CD will be launched at the upcoming concerts.

Retune Music Academy is a two-year project implemented by 100 Copies for Music Production and RC – an Italian organisation working in Egypt since 2006. The idea of Retune Music Academy is an evolution of the Retune project that was implemented by 100 Copies and RC in 2012 and 2013.

The preceding was a release by the European Union and does not necessarily reflect the editorial policy of The Cairo Post
