CAIRO: Three polling stations are open Tuesday for a final run-off in the Parliamentary election, to end Wednesday.

Military and police forces are security the stations, one in Alexandria, another in Damanhour, and another in Beni Sueif.

“The overall turnout of the second phase run-offs stood at 22.3 percent, after 6,253,987 voters headed to the polls out of 28,014,404 eligible voters,”  the High Elections Committee (HEC) head Ayman Abbas announced in a news conference in early December, adding that the number of valid votes reached 6,056,198 votes representing 96.8 percent of all votes.

Egypt’s House of Representatives will comprise of 596 members, with 448 to be elected as independents, 120 through the winner-take-all party lists system, with 28 seats to be appointed by the president, HEC announced in a news conference late August.
