CAIRO: Tourism Minister Hisham Zaazou headed Monday to the UAE to take part in the 18th round of the Arab Ministerial Council for Tourism (AMCT,) Youm7 reported.

Hosted by Sharjah, the 3-day conference will discuss means to promote cooperation on intra-Arab tourism and to elevate their development rates. It will also discuss ways to preserve and restore archaeological sites and architectural heritage amid the rising militancy of the Islamic State (IS) group.

The Arab tourism minister participating will also discuss a report by a subcommittee following up the implementation and development of the Arab tourism strategy along with standards for restaurant quality award.
