CAIRO: A total of 19 Egyptian deportees arrived Tuesday in Cairo from Italy, two from Lebanon and one from the U.S., Youm7 reported.
The Egyptian nationals deported from Italy admitted to having entered Italy illegally via the sea, while the three other citizens illegally resided in Lebanon and the U.S.
They will be checked for any criminal records before they are released.
Italy has deported hundreds of Egyptians over the past months after coast guards arrested them at arrival through the sea. Meanwhile, Egypt has arrested hundreds of Egyptians and foreigners before sailing to Europe illegally.
Immigration Minister Nabila Makram headed to Italy Tuesday to meet 560 migrant Egyptian children and discuss means to curb illegal immigration with Italian officials.
