CAIRO: A French plane made an emergency landing in Cairo Airport Thursday after an Algerian passenger died of a diabetic coma, an official source at the airport told Youm7.
The plane was on its way to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia when the passenger fell into the coma and passed away, the source said.
The pilot requested an emergency landing from the control tower and the body was transferred to Heliopolis Hospital near the airport.
The plane, which had taken off from Algiers, has resumed the flight.
It is a season for umra, Muslims’ minor pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia, on the occasion of Prophet Mohamed’s birthday coinciding with Dec. 23.
Saudi Arabia is also a work destination for millions of Arab professionals across the region.
