CAIRO: Bomb squad forces have remotely detonated an improvised explosive placed on a corniche in Ibrahimiya district in the Mediterranean city of Alexandria, Youm reported Friday.
Civil protection forces were deployed to the area with bomb-sniffing dogs, and combed the area for other possible planted bombs.
Police have lost some of its personnel while dismantling roadside bombs and explosive devices frequently planted near police stations and booths. Amid the high pace of the attacks, protection measures for bomb experts through proper suits and training were raised. Many now appear with protection suits and remote control for detonation, as seen in videos circulated on social media.
Such attacks, escalated since the 2013 ouster of President Mohamed Morsi, have resulted in causalities among civilians as well as forces.
