CAIRO: The National Coalition to Support Legitimacy (NCSL) called Thursday for a new “thunderous wave of a week-long protest” ahead of the fifth anniversary of the January 25 Revolution.

Under the slogan “Revolution Until Victory,” the NCSL calls on Egyptians “to partake in the Revolution, once again, in order to accelerate the elimination of murderous military rule and the return to civilian rule produced by the January 25 (2011) Revolution,” said the statement published on the coalition’s Facebook page.

The NCSL is an Islamist group formed after the 2013 ouster of Muslim Brotherhood President Mohammed Morsi following a mass protest against his rule.

“Day after day, the 2011 January approaches to remind us of the days of glory, freedom, dignity and unity, and day after day, preparations for the revolution anniversary including a roaring revolutionary wave are underway to befit this great event,” according to the statement.

“The coalition spares no effort to reconcile and unite members and supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood group to overcome the recent split and bridge the gap in order not to let down their Revolution and the martyrs,” according to the statement.
