CAIRO: A new statue of Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan was unveiled Friday at Giza’s 6 October City in recognition of the late leader’s support for Egypt, Youm7 reported.

The ceremony was attended by Egypt’s Housing Minister Moustafa Madbouly, Ambassador of the UAE to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the Arab League.

The 7.3 meter-high green statue, which is made of seven tons of bronze, is erected at the entrance of the Sheikh Zayed City, a residential district funded in 1990s by Sheikh Zayed. Its pedestal rises to 17 meters above ground level.
