CAIRO: Nine policemen were injured after their armored vehicle flipped over Saturday near Upper Egypt’s governorate of Qena, Youm7 reported.
The accident occurred at the Cairo-Aswan Western Desert Road nearby Qena’s city of Al Waqf, security source told Youm7.
The injured policemen include two officers, two low ranking police officers, four conscripts and a police informant, the source said, adding they were all transported to Qena hospital.
Traffic accidents are commonplace in Egypt due to badly maintained roads and poorly enforced traffic laws.
According to a 2012 report by the World Health Organisation, road accidents kill about 12,000 people in Egypt every year.
