CAIRO: Egypt’s Mohamed Ehab won Saturday the silver medal in the Clean and Jerk 77 kg category at the World Weightlifting Championships 2015.

He also won the bronze medal for the total 363 kg category, setting national, African, and Arab records.

According to the championship website, the silver medal for the Clean and Jerk 77 kg originally went to Azeri Elkhan Aligulizada, who was suspended from the championship after he tested positive for the banned anabolic substance. Thus, the silver medal went to Egyptian Mohamed Ehab who had originally secured the bronze medal.

The World Weightlifting Championships 2015 is being held in Texas. The championship marks the first stage for the 2016 Olympic Games’ qualification expected to take place in Rio de Janeiro.
