Sisi to discuss religious discourse on Prophet Muhammad’s birthday

CAIRO: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi will attend the celebration of al-Mawlid al-Nabi (Prophet Muhammad’s birthday) Tuesday at the Egyptian Ministry of Endowment headquarters, Youm7 reported.

Sisi will honor religious scholars, preachers, and young clergymen at the celebration that will be attended by 250 preachers from the Ministry. He will give a speech at the celebration, tackling the significance of renewing the religious discourse to fight terrorist thoughts.

Statesmen, public figures, parliamentarians, Coptic Pope Tawadros II and media figures are expected to attend the celebration.

Minister of Endowment Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa will give a speech tackles the necessity of unifying efforts to fight the radical thoughts and terrorism. His speech will be followed by another word for Sheikh al-Azhar Ahmed al-Tayeb.

Muslims worldwide will celebrate Wednesday this traditional festival on the 12th day of the third month of the Islamic Calendar “Rabi al-Awal.”

During celebrations of the day, Egyptian Muslims usually gather with families and friends and eat special sweets offered on this day, called “Halawet el-Moulid.” Children also buy special toys decorated with colors in the shape of horses or an “Aroussa al-Moulid” (Candy doll.)
