CAIRO: The Egyptian foreign ministry praised the resolution of the UN Security Council regarding the Libyan political agreement that was signed in Morocco last week, Youm7 reported Friday.
During its meeting Wednesday, the 15-nation council gave its support to the deal signed last week between representatives of Libya’s two competing regimes. The council also supported the formation of the Presidency Council and urged it to establish a Government of National Accord within the 30 days as stated in the Morocco agreement.
“The Egyptian foreign ministry also praises the UN resolution which affirms Libya’s sovereignty and independence and rejects terrorist acts which are committed by Islamic State (IS) affiliated groups,” Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid announced in a statement Thursday.
Egypt hopes that the upcoming phase will witness more international coordination that would support the Libyan national unity government a success, he added.
