Sharqia governor sacked ahead of new governors’ reshuffle

CAIRO: Governor of Egypt’s Delta governorate of Sharqia Reda Abdel Salam was sacked from his position Friday ahead of a governors’ reshuffle expected to witness 12 new faces, Youm7 reported.

Abdel Salam, who was appointed in a governors’ reshuffle carried out in February, said he received a phone call from the Local Development Minister Ahmed Zaki Badr instructing him “not to go to the governorate headquarters Saturday,” according to Youm7.

Major General Sami Sedhom, Sharqia deputy governor was appointed acting governor till the new governor is appointed.

Twelve new regional governors and five deputy ministers are expected to sworn-in by President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi Saturday, Youm7 reported.
