Tamarod: activating Arab defense agreement could solve Syrian crisis
By MOHAMMED ELSABAGH

CAIRO: Arab countries can solve the Syrian crisis by activating the Arab defense agreement, grassroots movement Tamarod said on Twitter.

The movement played a main role in the June 30 events.

Karima al-Hefnawy, General Secretary of the Egyptian Socialist Party, refused to discuss the Syrian crisis at the United Nations and demanded the Arab League activate the agreement. The Egyptian Democratic Party, led by Mohamed Abou el-Ghar, attacked Western intervention in Syria and also asked the U.N. and the League to perform its duty in Syria, referring to the necessity of working according to the Arab defense agreement.
