3 Egyptians among victims of Saudi hospital fire

CAIRO: Three Egyptians are among at least 24 people killed in a Saudi hospital fire last week, according to reports by Saudi news websites.

El-Mokhtasar el-Seoudi website reported the Egyptians are:  Mohamed Shaaban Hassan, 60, Abdel Malek Hassan, 55, and Ibrahim Abdel Aziz, 38.

A fire broke out at the general hospital in the southwestern port city of Jazan Thursday early morning killing at least 24 people and injuring 123.

The fire erupted at first floor of the hospital that houses the intensive care unit and nursery and maternity ward.

Reason behind the fire has not been disclosed yet.

On Friday, Egypt’s Grand Mufti Shawqi Allam mourned victims, and offered condolences to the Saudi government, people and the victims’ families and wished the injured speedy recovery.
