CAIRO: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi issued a decree to renew the tenure of Vice Admiral Mohab Mamish as Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority (SCA) for another year as of January 2016, Al Masry Al Youm reported Wednesday.

Mamish, 67, was the Commander of the Egyptian Navy from 2007 until 2012 before he was appointed SCA chairman by Egypt’s ousted president Mohamed Morsi in August 2012.

He was also a member of the Egyptian Supreme Council of the Armed Forces which ruled the country following the 2011 uprising that toppled President Hosni Mubarak.
