In November, 610 people were arrested in illegal immigrations attempts, while 3,576 and 2,215 were arrested in October and September, respectively.
The December statement marks a sharp decrease in migrants arrested in attempts to travel to Europe from the Delta Mediterranean shores.
Also mostly in the Western Desert, 1,383 kilograms of marijuana, 76 kilograms of hash and 8.4 million tablets of Tramadol were seized in December.
Ten smuggling tunnels were destroyed along the buffer zone with Gaza in North Sinai, according to Samir’s statement.
