CAIRO: Five from one family were killed after a missile from an “unknown source” hit their home in Rafah, North Sinai Thursday, MENA reported.
Gomaa, 47, Hanan, 41, Mohamed 18, Belal, 17 and Samira, 5 were killed in the attack, according to MENA. Their neighbor, Mahmoud, 18, was severely injured; he was transferred along with the bodies to Rafah Central Hospital.
Radical militants and the military are active in North Sinai. Civilians have been killed in the fight ongoing since the 2013 ouster of President Mohamed Morsi.
Missiles have hit homes in the governorate without any party claiming responsibility.
The Sinai Province, an offshoot of the Islamic State group, has abducted and beheaded civilians under the premise that they collaborate with the Egyptian army. The group also shot dead some civilians in other incidents.
