CAIRO: Kuwaiti National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim arrived in Cairo Friday where he will meet with Egyptian President Abdel Fatah al Sisi to discuss a number of regional and international issues, Youm7 reported.
During the visit, Al-Ghanim will meet with a number of Egyptian officials to discuss ways to boost bilateral cooperation and economic ties between the two countries.
After Cairo, Al-Ghanim is scheduled to visit Geneva where he will meet with a number of officials in the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU.)
Egyptian-Kuwaiti relations witnessed a boom especially following the ouster of Islamist president Mohamed Morsi in July 2013 when Kuwait pledged Egypt a non-refundable grant of $1 billion. Kuwait also pledged a five-year $2 billion deposit to the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) and $1 billion worth of petroleum products.
