CAIRO: Alexandria and Dekheila straits are still closed for the second day in a row on Saturday due to bad weather, according to the Alexandria Port Authority (APA.)
Increased wind speed and wave heights reaching three meters have caused the APA to close the two straits Friday.
According to statements by the APA acting chairman Fathy Taha to Youm7, the ports will be re-opened once weather improves.
“The authority decided to close the port to prevent ships from colliding with each other or with the dock,” said Taha.
A wave of unstable weather accompanied by low temperatures, active winds and heavy rains has hit several parts of Egypt, particularly the Mediterranean city of Alexandria Wednesday.
Meteorologists expect the unstable weather to last till Sunday. Cairo sees Saturday 9C at night.
