CAIRO: A 15-year-old was ordered detained for 15 days on Wednesday by the State Security Prosecution for allegedly carrying a bomb, Youm7 reported.
Human rights lawyer Doaa Mostafa told Youm7 the child, identified as Abdel Rahman, was investigated by the prosecution without a lawyer.
Abdel Rahman faces charges of possessing a bomb and belonging to a banned group that uses “terrorism” as means to reach it goals, according to Mostafa.
In May, six minors were sentenced to 15 years in prison by an Alexandria military court over illegal protesting, torching and attacking public utilities in 2013. The age of majority in Egypt is 18.
Irish-Egyptian Ibrahim Halawa was arrested at 17 in 2013 in an Islamist protest; Egypt rejected a plea in December from the European Parliament to release him. He has now turned 19 inside prison.
