CAIRO: A total of 22,026 people were arrested over illegal immigration attempts, and 7,512 illegal weapons, 29,820 kilograms of explosives and thousands of rounds of different ammunition were seized in December, according to a Wednesday statement.

Eleven “armed terrorists” were killed in a gunfire battle during military raids as part of the second major phase of the Right of the Martyr operation, which began Saturday, military spokesperson Mohamed Samir stated.

In a Sunday statement, Samir said 32 militants were killed in military operations over the past two days in North Sinai.
