Chinese deputy FM in Cairo ahead of Xi Jinping’s visit

CAIRO: China’s Deputy Foreign Minister Zhang Ming arrived in Cairo Wednesday ahead of an anticipated visit Chinese President Xi Jinping scheduled for 20 Jan., Youm7 reported.

Ming met with the Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and discussed the details and arrangements of the Chinese President’s visit, which is the first in 12 years, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ahmed Abu Zeid was quoted by Youm7.

During the meeting, Ming handed over to Egyptian officials Jinping’s invitation for the Egyptian President Abdel Fatah al Sisi to take part in the Group of Twenty summit, scheduled to convene in China in September, said Abu Zeid.

Sisi visited China in Dec. 2014 where he met with Jinping in Beijing and discussed issues of mutual interest and cooperation in many fields between the two countries.
