CAIRO: Three “terrorists” were killed in a gunfire battle with the police Thursday after allegedly perpetrating an armed assault on head of Zagazig University Abdel Hakim Abdel Nour, Youm7 reported.
The police detected the location of the alleged assailants in 10th of Ramadan City in Sharqia governorate, the militants shot at the police once they arrived, leading to the three men’s death, according to Youm7.
On Dec. 17, masked men on a motorcycle opened fire on him outside his home in Zagazig, the Delta. They shot him twice in the feet and tried to steal a bag with “important documents” he was carrying.
The family of Abdel Nour claimed he was targeted because he expelled Mahmoud Gozlan, jailed spokesperson of the Muslim Brotherhood, from his post as a professor at the Faculty of Agriculture.
